LeoBay Camper Conversions

Our first toe dip into the wide world of Campers, was a challenge to say the least… Could we build a camper for a grand? That way, if we bin it, the wallet won’t take to much of a bashing! The chosen base vehicle, was an old Ford Transit 110 Petrol short wheel base, for a mere £450.
Of we went to the local DIY store, for 4 sheets of 15mm MDF, affectionatly known as My Dad Friend according to my daughter, as most things around the house, involve a degree of the stuff here and there! Now its time to sit down, and make a plan, simple layout, two birth, with a cooker, storage, porta potty, and seats that fold into a bed. As the van already had side windows, the job was easy.
Now a week later we had a van with carpeted walls, lights, second battery, and a design for the seat bunks. Just a few more sunrises, blisters and cuts we had ourself a basic layout in MDF, all finished off in beige Kitchen and barthroom paint.
Now there’s just something, so special about your first trip, full of anticipation, as to what the weekend might hold, turning the key we were off down the road to Hastings, map in hand… No… satnav’s didn’t exist in those days, and as it turned out, even the sun was smiling for us too!
Now I have to say, we found a spot, right on the beach too, our first night under the stars with the BBQ… yum burgers and a bud, what a great weekend this might well be!
